Spiritually:
Rev. S.S. Shaw committed her life to Christ when she was 12 yrs.old. She has been growing in Christ and active in church ever since. During college, she served as an inner-city missionary to Houston,TX . Rev. Shaw also worked as an assistant chaplain at the Taylor County Jail. An ordained Christian minister, Rev. Shaw has been active in public speaking and religious education for over 20 years. She spent 8 years teaching new member classes on the topic of Homosexuality and the Bible for The Cathedral of Hope Church in Dallas,TX. Cathedral of Hope is the largest church in the world with a primary outreach to the gay and lesbian community. Rev. Shaw has been a guest preacher and teacher for a variety of churches and has spoken at several Christian conferences. She has led women’s retreats, church renewals, church revivals and served on several speaker panels. She is best known for her presentation regarding “Homosexuality and the Bible.” She currently attends CitiChurch in Dallas, TX.

Vocationally:
With a degree in Social Work and a minor in Bible, Shaw has always enjoyed “people work.” She began working with at-risk youth in several capacities: youth counselor, delinquency interventionist and, eventually, as a juvenile probation officer. From there, Shaw moved into the realm of victim advocacy. At first she worked for a police department by providing on-site crisis counseling for the victims of violent offenses. Shaw currently works as a counselor for domestic violence victims and is involved with women’s advocacy programs in her community. She loves her job and believes that each day is an opportunity to touch hurting lives with the love and grace of a compassionate God.

Socially:
Shaw thrives on social interaction! She loves meeting people and she never meets a stranger. She is an animal lover and is known to rescue all types of critters. Shaw enjoys sports and has been playing rugby since 1986. Her highlight was playing on the US Women’s National Rugby Team.  She also had the long awaited opportunity to play professional women’s football. Shaw is known as a prankster and has some very entertaining stories from her prank filled past. She is passionate about Christian music and loves going to the movies. If you’re going to spend time with Shaw, be prepared to laugh! 🙂
